IMPROMIX

students of the ADU Dance Department and students of the Music Improvisation course at MUZA

Students of the Music Improvisation course at the Zagreb Music Academy led by Professor Saša Nestorović and students of the Department of Dance at the Zagreb Academy of Dramatic Arts led by Professor Nikolina Pristaš will improvise together at the Močvara Club as part of the Impromondays, a series of free improvised and experimental music well-known in Zagreb which many artists from the Zagreb and broader jazz, impro and electronic scenes tried their hand at. The coproduction of the two faculties will be set up as a democratic co-creation of a music-dance performance—a simultaneous creation with one group being neither superior nor subordinate to the other, with reciprocity, learning and broadening each other’s perspective.

It was previously presented through an open rehearsal as part of the “Birthday of Art” project, the common artistic zone of the University of Zagreb, held on 17 January 2023 at the Music Academy. On that occasion, many artists, mainly young, with diverse artistic and scientific expressions gathered in one place. As indicated in the event program, we got a glimpse of the processes of creating plays, rehearsing musical performances, making works of art, applying artistic solutions to video games, scientific work in art, and similar.
