MBZ LECTURE: Development of Sound Reproduction in Art and Technology: from Mono Signals via Loudspeaker Domes to Multidirectional Loudspeakers from the 3D printer
Franz Zotter, Kristian Jambrošić, Marko Ciciliani
The day after the "SkylAR" concert, to be held in the temporary exhibition space of the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum, a lecture and demonstration of the technology used in its realization will be held in the Lauba. The lecture participants are Prof. Kristian Jambrošić, PhD, professor and head of the Auralization Lab at the Institute of Electroacoustics of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, Prof. Franz Zotter, PhD, professor and researcher at the Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics in Graz, as well as the author of the multimedia concert featuring elements of the installation "SkylAR", Prof. Marko Ciciliani, PhD, artist, composer and professor of computer musical composition at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Graz.
The purpose of this demonstration is to present the Ambisonic system, a special approach to the use of more loudspeakers in a performance, that is used in the concert installation "SkylAR”. The leading expert in the field, Franz Zotter, will speak the most about the system itself, while Marko Ciciliani will show how to use it. Kristian Jambrošić will give a historical overview of the sound reproduction technology and personal binaural and VR experiences. There will also be a discussion on the artistic freedom that each system offers and how these systems are compatible with the way we hear and locate sound sources.
