Application
Composers of any nationality, compositional experience, and age are welcome to apply. Applicants are encouraged to state their preferred mentor, although the organizer retains the final decision.
The MBZ team will select participants based on the submitted applications. Applications should be sent by November 28, 2024 (no later than 23:59 CET, with no possibility for late submissions) to dorotea.racz@mbz.hr.
Selected participants will be notified by email by December 9, 2024.
Applications for active participation must include:
- Candidate’s CV in English or Croatian (up to 1800 characters, including spaces)
- Three compositions (scores + audio/video recordings) that best represent their work
- A copy of an identification document: passport or ID card

- One composition (score + audio/video recording) that best represents their work
- A copy of an identification document: passport or ID card
Candidates selected for active participation must provide the following:
- A completed score and parts for reading rehearsals and the concert with the resident ensemble: performance materials (score and parts in PDF format) of the entire composition. The available instruments in any combination are violin, cello, piano/keyboard, flute, clarinet, and electronics. Instrumentation and electronic details will be arranged later with the festival. The deadline for submission of materials is March 7, 2025.

Candidates selected for passive participation must pay the registration fee upon selection.
During the selection process, the MBZ team may request additional sample materials from candidates if needed.
Registration Fees
- Foreign active participants: €400
- Foreign passive participants: €150
- Domestic active participants (excluding students/employees of all music academies in Croatia): €200
- Students/employees of all music academies in Croatia as active participants: €0
- Students/employees of all music academies in Croatia as passive participants: €0
- Other domestic passive participants: €0
Selected participants of the MBZ Masterclass for Composers will be informed about the registration and payment methods.
By applying to the MBZ masterclass, candidates agree to the MBZ terms of service and privacy policy.
Active and passive participants will receive a complimentary festival pass for all other events of the 33rd Music Biennale Zagreb.
