Andrea Valle
MentorOriginally an electric bass player, Andrea Valle has studied composition with Azio Corghi. His work as a composer is mainly focused on algorithmic methodologies, indifferently in the electro-acoustic and the instrumental domain, including automatic notation typesetting. Since 2008, he develops electro-mechanical, computer-controlled systems, built with a predilection for low cost, scavenged objects, that he used both as live instruments and as sound installations. He has developed installations and has collaborated extensively with Marcel.lí Antúnez Roca, founder of La Fura dels Baus, for his mechanotronic performances and robotic installations.
He is the leader of Arto fantasma, an ensemble specialized in live music for silent films. With Mauro Lanza, he has composed the cycle Systema naturae (2012-18) for electromechanical objects and acoustic instruments. He is a researcher at University of Torino where he serves as associate professor for the Drama, Art and Music Studies program (DAMS) and as Director for CIRMA, the Interderpartmental Center for Multimedia and Audiovisual of the University of Torino.
