Join us for new performances of opera rosa!

opera rosa, the first Croatian opera for babies, produced by the 32nd Music Biennale Zagreb, Croatian Composers' Society, and the Croatian National Theatre, will once again be part of the “Knjige u krošnjama” project in Zagreb's Park Ribnjak on May 17th.

opera rosa has been performed as part of the 32nd MBZ at the Croatian National Theatre, at “Knjige u krošnjama”, at the International Children's Festival in Šibenik, and at the Istrian National Theatre.

Four performances are scheduled for Friday, May 17, 2024: two in the morning at 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. (suitable for ages 1-2), and two in the afternoon at 4:30 and 6:00 p.m. (suitable for ages 3-4), on the terrace of the Ribnjak Youth Center.

Tickets priced at €6 can be purchased online or at the box office one hour before the start of the performance. In case of rain, the performance will be canceled.

This opera for babies is conceived as a shared interactive journey for both big little ones and their little big ones. Set up as a live installation in a comfortable, safe, and soft space, it invites children to freely move and explore the world of music, sound, and movement created for them. Taking the classical three-part structure as its backbone, it starts with the night, musically and content-wise calm, gentle, and warm, continues with the morning, awakening and the birth of light, and ends with the day, celebration, and play.

The artists use a familiar daily routine to introduce the babies to a new world. Four performers, each through their medium (voice, movement, instrument), take children and parents on a journey from sleep to play, from darkness to light, from abstract to concrete, from voice to word. With this approach, the big little ones become acquainted with a new, familiar world of art, as a space for play and interaction, as well as a space of freedom and exploration of all their senses.
