STANFORD OPERAS AVAILABLE ONLINE AT THE MBZ!
Three operas, thesis compositions by the students in the PhD program at Stanford University, Davor Branimir Vincze, Julie Herndon and Chris Lortie, will be available online on the MBZ’s YouTube channel!
The recordings of the operas will be presented at the 31st MBZ on July 16. The project is the result of a collaboration between the Decoder Ensemble from Hamburg and the Stanford University Department of Music. The operas were initially meant to be presented live, both at Stanford and the Music Biennale Zagreb, but the pandemic created logistical challenges, so the project pivoted to virtual operas.
The recorded works are Xinsheng, by Davor Branimir Vincze, At That Time, by Julie Herndon, and Symptom of Expression, by Chris Lortie. They were produced this March in Berlin with Heinrich Horwitz as creative director, and performed by the Decoder Ensemble.
