Music Biennale Zagreb prize winner

Music Biennale Zagreb received the prominent 'KulturPreis Europa' award - the European award for accomplishments in culture given out by European Culture Forum since 1993.

During the 24th Biennale, in 2007, both the Festival and its current general director dr. Ivo Josipović received the award, but also, one of its founders, globally known Croatian composer, Milko Kelemen was also given the prize.

On behalf of the Festival, Mr. Ivo Josipović, Biennale's general director, received the award during the grand opening of the last year's 24th MBZ, on April 19, 2007 in Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb. Milko Kelemen received the award from the past year's winner, Mrs. Elzbieta Penderecka, the wife and agent of the famous polish composer and conductor Krzystof Penderecki, who was honorary guest of the 24th Biennale. The ceremony was arranged just before the concert of the Croatian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra on April 26th, 2007 in Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall, followed by Kelemen's violin concerto 'Grand jeu classique'.
