Bianca Ban about the Fund Rudolf and Margita Matz
Croatian musicians Rudolf and Margita Matz decided to dedicate the entire income from their authors rights from the performances of their pieces, to the young (max. 30 years old), still not sufficiently established composers.
Therefore based on their last will and testimony in 2009 Fund “Rudolf and Margita Matz” was founded and in the autumn of that same year the first Call for young composers was announced. At this very moment the third Call for young composers for the Matz Fund is still open till the 31st January 2012, so to talk you into joining in, we will introduce some of the funded composers in year 2011.
Scholarships for the year 2011 were given to Bianca Ban, Danijel Legin, Ivan Josip Skender, Pavao Sviličić and Tibor Szirovicza and the first in a row to present herself is the only lady in this very talented company.
„Except in a classical music my wish is to establish myself as a composer also in the applied music. And when the applied music is the issue, I'm mostly attracted with the music for film and cartoons, theatre or video games. Tools that are necessary for making such kinds of music implicate also electronics, software, different musical instruments etc. The acquisition of the equipment is very expensive and a long lasting process. So, one very important part of the financial support was for me the Scholarship of the Fund “Rudolf and Margita Matz”, with which I bought the good part of my equipment. Gradually I’m building my own studio and with it my activity in the area of the applied music also grows. During the period of scholarship alongside some works from the area of classical music, I composed music for the animated film Satan’s son by Marko Dješka in production of the Zagreb film and music for the iPhone game Smart Way in production of the team New forum. Satan’s son will soon be promoted at the well known domestic and international festivals of the short and animated films, and author Marko Dješka and I, as successful young and creative tandem, have in our plans for the near future more co-operations on the area of the animated film and video games lined up.”
