MUSIC - DIVERSION
Thirty years after the Urbofest, a string of events held in the open spaces of Zagreb as a part of the 10th Music Biennale Zagreb, under the baton of Nikša Gligo, a part of the Biennale programme steps out again, to the streets and the public squares, onto the trams and the trucks. The participants are mostly young musicians from Croatia, Italy and Germany, playing both acoustic and electric instruments, singing their own pieces and works by others, in order to re-claim the streets, to create a diversion with their music, in order to step out of the box, our of the concert halls, beyond expectations. Every such action can be seen as a protest, giving young people a voice, or an affirmation of something - of music, for example. The musicians are ready, but their venture out in the open brings a touch of the unexpected.
